Since the turn of the century the Lord God of Heaven has used the facilities and programs of Camp Chetek to further the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The camp was incorporated in 1925 and is governed by a board of 22 trustees made up of pastors and laymen from local churches. The primary purpose of the camp is to help local churches evangelize the lost and equip the saints for the work of the ministry. The life-changing impact of this ministry has reached to the far corners of the earth!
This beautiful 125-acre Bible camp is situated on the shores of the Chetek Chain of Lakes in Chetek, Wisconsin. The camp operates year round and its programs include summer camps for children, family camps, special events for the family on Memorial Day and Labor Day, youth retreats, senior citizen days, men's retreats, area-wide teen lock-ins, a Fall Festival and Winter Carnivals for elementary age children, an annual pastor's workshop to strengthen the leadership qualities in pastors, fishing and golf fellowship outings, and much more. One of the unique ministries of the camp is the Junior Missions Outreach Week which is designed to reach inner-city, underprivileged, unchurched children with the Gospel, and then reach their families through local church follow-up.
The programs of the camp are well-planned, highly-structured, fully-supervised, and continually evaluated for effectiveness. The camp is open to children of any faith or no faith. Young people have the opportunity to experience a diversity of activities including horseback riding, water-skiing and tubing, the Blob, a wilderness obstacle course, archery, craft shop, and many other activities, including unique games created by the camp's program staff.
The director is Pastor Randy Tanis. He came to Camp Chetek in the summer of 2004 after serving as Youth Pastor for 21 years at Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, WI. Should the Lord Jesus tarry His coming, the future looks bright for the ministry at Camp Chetek.
And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. Mark 6:31
