Scott Sivinksty's Biography

I grew up in the ministry of evangelism. I was five weeks old when I began traveling with my family so you can say that itinerant ministry is in my blood. Traveling with my mom and dad as well as two older brothers and one younger sister was a very different yet exciting life to live.

I received Jesus Christ as my Savior at the age of sixteen. I surrendered my life to full time ministry and went to Bob Jones University to prepare for ministry. After I finished college in 1998 I got married in June to Debbie and though I knew that full time evangelism was eventually where God was directing me, I went into the full time youth pastorate to mature and gain a greater heart and understanding for the local church. We entered full time evangelism in 2005 and are thrilled to be laboring in this manner for our Master. My wife, Debbie and our three boys Sean, Cole, and Reid travel with me in evangelism and I am so grateful to have them with me in the ministry.

Something that has been very special to me over the years is camp ministry. I was saved at a camp and made several other very important Christian life decisions at camp. I have also counseled at two different camps and as a youth pastor took the junior children and teenagers in our church to camp. Now as an evangelist, I have the special privilege to preach at different camps throughout the summer. I have had the wonderful opportunity to preach at Camp Chetek several times. I deeply appreciate the biblical philosophy and passion that this camp has for ministry. Randy Tanis and his staff are excellent servants of the Lord and it is an honor to serve alongside them for a brief portion of the summer.

I have had a great fascination of the martial arts since I was a young boy. Although I received some cursory instruction, my formal training began when I was sixteen. I received an intermediate rank in a style that combined Shotokan and Goju-ryu karate. When I went to college I joined a karate extension team that went out and performed karate demonstrations and preached the gospel. I currently hold a second degree black belt in Chinese Kenpo karate. I have also received some elementary training in Muay Thai kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Krav Maga and Tae Kwon Do.

Ever since I was a senior in high school I have sought to use the skills and talents that God enabled me to develop in the martial arts for His glory. I have had countless opportunities to preach and share the gospel with the lost as well as Christians in karate demonstrations and karate camps. Souls have been saved and Christians have been strengthened and challenged by the Word of God.

Camp Chetek has now been gracious enough to allow me to run a week of karate camp in conjunction with Teen Week 3, 2010. My chief desire is to point young people who need to be saved to Christ and help our Christian youth in their walk with the Lord. My secondary goal is to teach various skills of the martial arts to those who may have little or no training as well as to those who are intermediate or advanced in their training. I desire that these skills that are taught will be used as a means of witness and ministry for the Lord. It is also my burden to impress upon our campers the importance of using other talents and abilities that they possess to serve Jesus Christ.

This week will be an exciting time of martial arts training, preaching, and participation of other events of Camp Chetek! Come join us!
